France

In Paris, northern France and at the borders with Italy and Spain, migrants and refugees encounter policies and practices aimed at preventing them from settling or claiming their rights.

Unaccompanied minors are among the most vulnerable, often arriving alone in France after perilous journeys and finding themselves confronted by a lack of information, inadequate reception facilities and a maze of administrative bureaucracy that makes it impossible for them to even register for protection.

Towards the end of 2017, we teamed up with several associations and lawyers to open a day centre for unaccompanied minors in Pantin, in the suburbs of Paris, offering respite, medical care and administrative support.

Our teams also run mobile clinics for migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in Paris and monitor the situation throughout the country, making regular visits to French border areas to document the situation and respond to emergencies with direct medical assistance or donations to other organisations active on the ground.
